A few months ago, I headed to Canva HQ in Surry Hills, Sydney after being approached by Career Contessa to photograph CEO and co-founder Melanie Perkins for their feature piece they were running on the overnight success that Canva has had in the design world.
Stepping in to the funky industrial-feel office space I instantly wanted to work there myself! Thankfully it provided many great photo opportunities with lots of interesting textures, backgrounds and some cool artwork to work with. Melanie was a delight to work with, and given how busy her schedule is, I’m glad we could knock the photo shoot over in less than an hour!
Melanie and her co-founder launched Canva in August 2012, and within the first month had more than 50,000 people sign up to use the platform. Now, two years later they’ve grown to 4 million users. It’s been incredibly popular with marketers, bloggers, graphic designers, and small businesses who need to create lots of visual content and struggle with the existing tools.
