Our final day in Melbourne started off nice and slowly with a bit of room service in our hotel. This is such a luxury and one we have only done a few times, so it was a treat to sit in our fluffy white robes and feast on a delicious breakfast in our hotel room overlooking Melbourne! That’s what fancy hotels do best isn’t it?!
Again, we wandered back through lane ways and streets we hadn’t yet visited stopping in to browse through tiny shops and drink coffee all while watching the world go by. People were taking things slowly on the public holiday, but the city was still very vibrant and filled with tourists and locals alike.
The weather was divine, so we headed towards some of Melbourne’s famous rooftop bars starting with Madame Brussells which can be found at Level 3, 59-63 Bourke St. As with all rooftop and lane way bars in Melbourne they can be a little difficult to find at times, and this was no exception! We entered what looked to be an office block and ride the small elevator to level 3, to be greeted to an amazing bar and view over East Melbourne. We enjoyed a glass of wine, and a cocktail while basking in the blue skies and warm sunshine on a crisp winters day.
Before we needed to return to the hotel and collect our bags before the airport, we stopped in for a late lunch at The Meatball & Wine Bar on Flinders Lane. We had wandered past a few times and decided it was finally time to stop in! We enjoyed some delicious beef meatballs and pork, fennel and sage meatballs on a bed of fresh pasta and sauce. The decor was very fun, and music choices were spot on for an afternoon feast. Highly recommend checking this out if you’re in Melbourne.
As sad as it was, it was time to make our way to the hotel and airport to wrap up what was an amazing long weekend in Melbourne. We had a fabulous time walking, eating and drinking our way around the beautiful city and will be sure to return in the future!
